2024 Global Parliamentary Forum and Global Young MP Initiative - Multiple Global Challenges: Action for Impact

The 2024 Global Parliamentary Forum (GPF), co-organized by the аIJʿª½± Group, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and the (PN), took place on April 15-16, 2024 ahead of the Spring Meetings in Washington DC.

The Forum is a singular convening of legislators from around the world alongside senior leadership from the аIJʿª½± and IMF to share knowledge and best practices in development. This year¡¯s event, themed ¡°Multiple Global Challenges: Action for Impact¡± focused on the perfect storm of intertwining challenges that are putting prosperity out of reach for millions across the globe. Topics included AI, the climate-fragility nexus, IDA, debt, governance, and gender, with the launch of a new Women MP Chapter of the Parliamentary Network. The first day of the event featured the first Parliamentary Townhall with аIJʿª½± President Ajay Banga, allowing legislators to dialogue directly with him and IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva.

The Forum concluded with the fifth meeting of the Global Young MP Initiative, titled ¡°Planting Seeds of Growth: Creating green jobs for young people and the planet.¡± Legislators under age 40 had the opportunity to engage with аIJʿª½± leadership as well as their peers from across the globe on the urgent cross-border issue of youth employment in times of climate change. It covered the latest findings, innovations and solutions to help prepare future generations for high-skill, green jobs. The meeting also served to introduce the new Steering Committee of the Global Young MP Initiative.
