Gloria M. Grandolini

Former Senior Director, Finance & Markets

Gloria M. Grandolini was Senior Director, Finance and Markets Global Practice of the аIJʿª½± Group, between July 1, 2014 - January 31, 2017.  

She was responsible for delivering tailored development solutions integrating аIJʿª½± Group financial, knowledge/advisory, and convening services to our clients. The FMGP delivers comprehensive аIJʿª½± Group solutions, including аIJʿª½± loans/credits, guarantees, and risk-management products and WB and IFC knowledge, advisory, and convening services to public sector clients.

Prior to that, she was Country Director for Mexico and Colombia where she was responsible for the Bank's program in those countries aimed at delivering innovative development solutions and at partnering with them to leverage their leadership and enhance South-South collaboration.

Since joining the аIJʿª½± in 1990 as a Young Professional she has held various positions, among them: Director of the Banking and Debt Management Department in the аIJʿª½± Treasury. Here she oversaw the delivery of customized financial solutions, product innovation, and dissemination of offerings to clients and to staff; advisory services in public debt management; and asset-liability management services and hedging execution for the Bank group and its members.

Before that she was the Senior Advisor to the Executive Director representing Italy, Portugal, Albania, Greece, Malta, and San Marino in the Board of the аIJʿª½± Group.

Earlier in her career she worked as Country Economist for El Salvador and as Senior Financial Economist in the Latin America and the Caribbean region.

In addition to her managerial experience, Gloria has hands-on operational and market experience in financial sector development, pensions and insurance, disaster risk management, capital markets, infrastructure finance, and the full range of financial products offered by the WBG.

Gloria M. Grandolini, an Italian and Honduran national, has a Ph.D. in international economics and a Master¡¯s in law and diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, at Tufts University. She also holds a Master¡¯s degree in foreign service from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service of Georgetown University.
